AccessibilityPASS (Access2Accessibility Movement SME) aims to increase the confidence and mobility of blind individuals by providing them with self-describing tactile maps/graphs. These maps help them understand spatial information and navigate public spaces with more ease. As a 2-year-old Romanian SME, AccessibilityPASS is an Insertion Social Enterprise and Authorized Protected Shelter. It was born from the experience of working in a 15-year-old NGO, and uses the experience and technical innovation developed there to enter the commercial area. Over 10 years of R&D, the NGO developed a virtual tutor that allows independent study of tactile graphics – how the world looks to the blind. This technology enables any blind person, anywhere in the world, to understand a tactile map using their smartphone and internet connection. By providing spatial information (shapes, proportion, and concepts), the mobile assistant offers confidence to the blind and improves their integration into society. AccessibilityPASS uses the latest technologies, such as Mixed Reality, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. The solution has been validated in an educational context, with visitors from 150 countries and over 660 app downloads.
